How do I ask a good question?

We’re happy to help you, but in order to improve your chances of getting an answer, here are some guidelines to follow:

Make sure your question is on-topic

In order for us to answer your question, it needs to be something that we have knowledge in. we can’t help you with a question about the roblox API because we don’t know the Roblox API. Make sure that your question relates to Inventor and is something that support is likely to have experience in.

You should follow the channel topic, ensuring that your question or any content you send follows our rules and is within the topic of the channel. So, questions about inventor go in support while questions about code go in coding.

Search before you ask

We get a lot of questions in support, so it’s likely we’ve already answered your question, either in one of our support channels in the discord or on our forum (available at https://forum.inventor.gg). You should search for your question on these before asking as we may have already answered it for someone else. frequently asked questions are likely to get you sent to one of our documents on the inventor documentation.

How to format your question

Asking a question can be hard, so here is a template for you to follow that will help both you and the support staff in resolving your problem.

  • the portion that isn’t working, in detail
    • what it is supposed to do
    • what it is doing
    • the flow/code you think is having the problem

Proofread before sending

Now that you’ve finished writing your question, take a deep breath and read through it from start to finish. Pretend you’re seeing it for the first time: does it make sense? Can someone without all of your context and background knowledge understand it? Try reproducing the problem yourself in a fresh bot and make sure you can do so using only the information included in your question. Add any details you missed and read through it again.

Also, spelling, grammar, and punctuation are important! If you’re not comfortable writing in English, ask someone to proofread it for you.

What if I can’t speak English?

We have a diverse community here with people from many different backgrounds, and not everyone is fluent in English (or may not speak it at all). That’s perfectly okay! We understand that English can be challenging for some, but we kindly ask that you make an effort to express yourself in English as clearly as possible. This helps us manage the server more effectively, as moderating non-English languages can be difficult.

There are plenty of translation tools available, such as DeepL or Google Translate, and you might also consider using an AI tool like ChatGPT or Groq to help you understand or ask questions in your native language. While we will do our best to accommodate everyone, please understand that we may not always be able to assist if you’re unable to communicate in English or use a translation tool that helps us understand you clearly.
